Grimsthorpe Castle Gardens - Lincolnshire

The Castle Park and Gardens, home of the Willoughby de Eresby family since 1516, are today run by the Grimsthorpe and Drummond Castle Trust.

No photography is allowed within the house, but the extensive grounds are a delight, with topiary being a particular specialty.

There is also an extensive Ornamental Kitchen Garden, as well as formal and woodland gardens, covering some 30 acres.  Further into the estate, and accessed by a surfaced path is a large lake.

One unusual feature of Grimsthorpe is the deer herd.  Whilst it is home to three varieties of deer, red, fallow and muntjac, which are completely wild, there are some that have been hand-reared due to delivery abnormally late in the season or abandonment.  These are hand-reared, and are incredibly tame and at certain times the general public can enter their enclosure.

Grimsthorpe Castle grounds are particularly suitable for wheelchair users and there is a nice refreshment area.
